Driving to Dallas we stopped at Buc-ee's. It is pretty much the best rest stop/gas station/bathroom break location I have ever been to. If you're ever on that stretch of road, you must stop. And buy fudge. And sandwiches.
You learn new things while on road trips. One new thing I learned about Jason is that he always orders the orange drink at McDonalds...who knew? I was under the impression people generally stopped doing that when they were 11, but I guess I was wrong. Let the kid in us live on.
We listened to podcasts, and an audio book about management - we're nerds. But in our defense, it was really entertaining! While in Kansas City, we spent a day going to some of the historical church sites around the area - independence, liberty jail, etc. Pictured below we're at Liberty Jail. I've been before; it's always such a good reminder of our heritage.

It wasn't even a week of being home when My favorite Miss Mallorie came to visit! I'm so glad she used her vacation to visit me :) I loved showing her all over my little life in Austin and learning new facts about the world of delivering babies (she's soon to be an OB/GYN & was studying for an upcoming exam).

The day after Mallorie took off, I got on a plane myself and flew to Las Vegas where I spent the weekend with some of my most favorite ladies. 9 of us MBA ladies that graduated together gathered from Boston, TX, South Carolina, California, & Utah to spend a weekend together. The weekend consisted of a lot of shopping, a lot of talking, and a lot of delicious food. Can't ask for more than that. Actually, the perfect recipe for a great weekend with the girls.
One of my favorite parts was at church. After sacrament meeting we were standing around chatting with each other when a young guy (23?) came up to us to introduce himself. A few comments worth sharing:1. "Glad you guys are here. So are you all teachers?"
2. "Oh. You're the career-type. You're intimidating"
3. "Guys on the east coast can handle girls like you"
We just about died. Stereo-type confirmed.

I just got back from a weekend in Houston with Mr. Larsen. He planned a fun day for us including Old Town Spring (pictured below), 3D, Imax Avatar, and Mexican food. Can't ask for more than that. By the way, as a disclaimer, don't mind my hair. I know it's weird right now.

What adult and kid wouldn't want to have the orange drink from McDonald's?? It is the best!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on that one, Jason. I ALWAYS order the orange drink myself. Who knew that, either?
ReplyDeleteFinally, someone ended the blog drought. Oh yeah, Jen did that yesterday.
Fun to relive the stories -- fun life. : )
What's weird about your hair? I thought it looked cute.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun few weeks. Thats how you get rid of the January blues for sure. And I love that Jason gets the orange pop. I just about cried when the guy at Papa Murphey's told me that they weren't carrying Orange pop in the two-liter anymore. It's so good!
