Magic in the air

We decided it would be fun to take an adventure for our first Christmas together. Since our honeymoon turned out unexpectedly (both of us ended up sick in the Bahamas and had to come home early) we were extra excited about this second chance to have a fun trip.

Itinerary: Make it to Germany to feel the magic at the Christmas Markets and then head to Romania to spend Christmas weekend with Brian and Marina. What an idyllic way to spend the holidays.

First stop: Atlanta Georgia where we had a 6 hour layover. Amy had told us that the Atlanta aquarium is one of her favorite places in the universe so we decided to check it out.

Second stop: Germany. We landed in Munich at 7am...so tired. After getting off of the plane and collecting our luggage we were off to figure out how to get to Nuremberg via train. You see, with the business of the wedding and then a honeymoon and then getting ready for Christmas, neither one of us did a very good job of planning ahead of time. We were (are) kind of winging it. Below is Jason buying us train tickets. It took us a little while to figure out where/how/etc. but we did it. and we got there. and it was snowing. and it was magical.

These are shots of the Christmas Markets we've been to both in Nuremberg and in Munich. For the record, Nuremberg was much more magical and lovely. Munich is great too, but the vendors in Nuremberg had better loot. We held off on buying some things in hope we would find some cool alternatives in Munich...unfortunately, no dice. Probably better that way :)

Walking through the shopping district this morning in Nuremberg, we happened upon this live nativity. With real everything. It was super rad. Of course we paid 2 Euro to feed the camel.

  1. Wow, That looks awesome. I'm not one to sit on a plane for 16 hours but it seems like it may just be worth it.

  3. I'm so excited to see your adventures! It looks like a lot of fun. Hey Jason, we recognize those dang train ticket machines. We had to do the "Do you speak English? Can you help, pleeeease" thing. Congrats on figuring it out! Eat one of those great Bavarian pastries for me!
